The Beatles ABC – C – Can’t buy me love

Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRtw61AVapM

The true meaning of the song is about all the material possessions and that love is greater than all of that.Paul says :

“I think you can put any interpretation you want on anything, but when someone suggests that ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is about a prostitute, I draw the line.” He went on to say: “The idea behind it was that all these material possessions are all very well, but they won’t buy me what I really want.”[4] However, he was to comment later: “It should have been ‘Can Buy Me Love’ ” when reflecting on the perks that money and fame had brought him.[5] – source wikipedia

In my opinion it is one of the best songs on “A hard day’s night”. Here are some other favorites from the same album:

– I should have known better;

– Anytime at all;

– I’ll cry instead;

Lyrics

Can’t buy me love, love
Can’t buy me love

I’ll buy you a diamond ring my friend if it makes you feel alright
I’ll get you anything my friend if it makes you feel alright
Cos I don’t care too much for money, and money can’t buy me love

I’ll give you all I got to give if you say you’ll love me too
I may not have a lot to give but what I got I’ll give to you
I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love

Can’t buy me love, everybody tells me so
Can’t buy me love, no no no, no

Say you don’t need no diamond ring and I’ll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can’t buy
I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love
Owww

Can’t buy me love, everybody tells me so
Can’t buy me love, no no no, no

Say you don’t need no diamond ring and I’ll be satisfied
Tell me that you want the kind of thing that money just can’t buy
I don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love

Can’t buy me love, love
Can’t buy me love

Weird things I like; part 1 – Creepy pastas

I think we all have that one or two weird things that we like. I like reading and writing creepy pastas. Creepy pastas are short scary stories posted on the internet. There are classic pastas like Jeff the killer, BEN, Slenderman or the Rake(every creepy pasta amateur knows about them), Pokemon pastas (Lavender town, lost silver etc.), lost episodes from classic cartoons (Squidward’s suicide, Dead Bart) etc. The pasta community can be found on YouTube, on Devianart, blogs or most social networks.

Here’s a list of my favorite pastas:

She found her way into my home

One of the best stories I have ever read, the story line is really good and you can feel shivers while you’re reading it. If you aren’t into really long pastas this is perfect for you.

It’s really creepy and spooky but if you like gory stuff these two pastas may not be your cup of tea. Anyway, it’s worth to listen too, especially for the ending.

The Russian sleep experiment

One of the classic creepy pastas. Really gory and creepy and it’s a must read in the pasta community. It’s perfect for the long stories enthusiasts.

It’s locked

It’s really spooky and the ending is really well written. Highly recommended for those looking for a good spook.

Well, that’s it for now. See ya’ll later

The Beatles ABC – B – Blackbird

Link :      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaSMROk-D-A

Originally written by McCartney, the song was inspired by the racial tension in the United States at that time. Paul thought about the song while he was in Scotland, saying that the guitar accompaniment was inspired by J.S Bach’s ‘Bourre in E minor’. In 2002, at a show, he spoke on stage about the meaning of the song:

“I had been doing poetry readings. I had been doing some in the last year or so because I’ve got a poetry book out called Blackbird Singing, and when I would read “Blackbird”, I would always try and think of some explanation to tell the people, ’cause there’s not a lot you can do except just read the poem, you know, you read 10 poems that takes about 10 minutes, almost. It’s like, you’ve got to, just, do a bit more than that. So, I was doing explanations, and I actually just remembered why I’d written “Blackbird”, you know, that I’d been, I was in Scotland playing on my guitar, and I remembered this whole idea of “you were only waiting for this moment to arise” was about, you know, the black people’s struggle in the southern states, and I was using the symbolism of a blackbird. It’s not really about a blackbird whose wings are broken, you know, it’s a bit more symbolic.”

— Paul McCartney, Interview with KCRW’s Chris Douridas, May 25, 2002 episode of New Ground (17:50–19:00) – source wikipedia

‘Blackbird’ is from The white album and was released on 22 November 1968.

Other favorites from the same album:

1) Back in the U.S.S.R

2) The continuing story of Bungalow Bill

3) Don’t pass me by

Lyrics

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.

Indie game of the week – Eyes

Link:  http://gamejolt.com/games/adventure/eyes-the-horror-game/12275/

The game is also available on Appstore or Android.

The goal, the house and the strange presence

The game is very simple: you are in this huge house and your goal is to collect 20 bags (the number of the bags changes depending on the difficulty). You start in an empty bedroom and make your way around the mansion, but something seems odd. You feel like you are being watched. The objects around you start to shake and you can hear the monster coming.

The house

It has three floors:

– the main floor, where you start;

– the basement, which is a creepy maze and the visibility is pretty bad, but if you have the guts you can get a lot of bags from there;

– the top floor, with a lot of interesting rooms;

Collectibles

Your main goal are the bags but there is something else that may come in handy if you know how to use it. There are eyes on the walls which you must pick up. When you activate them you can see from the monster’s perspective. In that way you know which areas to avoid.

There is also a key and a code which you can find. The key opens a door in the basement and you can find a good amount of bags there. The code is for the safe on the top floor.

You also have a map which updates every time you enter a new room. It’s pretty handy if you’re not used to navigating on your own.

Tips

-On the main floor there is a ladder. I noticed that if I go under it the monster will spawn on the same floor as me, so be sure to use the room next to the ladder to avoid a bad scare;

-Safe spots: most of the rooms except the room on the main floor on the left after you go past the ladder, the room on the top floor with lots of boxes and 2 doors and the room at the end of the corridor with paintings and bags;

-On the top floor there is a small room with a copying machine. Press it, wait a few seconds and get an extra eye;

-If you don’t know this yet, double click/tap to sprint;

-If the objects around you are shaking it means the monster is around your area;

-Remember the room with the boxes and 2 doors I told you about? There is a closet you can open and there is a pick-up in it. You can listen to music but there is a much higher chance for the monster to spawn in the same area as you.

“Eyes” is an addictive game with some good jump scares, it knows how to build tension and it’s perfect if you’re looking for a quick horror adventure. If you have the free version on IoS there are some rooms that cannot be accessed but it is still enjoyable.

The Beatles ABC – A – Anna (Go to him)

The fourth song on the album “Please, please me” is actually a cover, the original song being written by Arthur Alexander. It was recorded in three takes on February 11, 1963 and remixed on February 25. Unterberger also made a review on The Beatles’ version, saying:

Ringo Starr faithfully [replicates] the unusual drum rhythm and hi-hat crunches. Lennon’s vocal, however, added a tortured pain not present in Alexander’s model, particularly when he wailed in his upper register at the conclusion of the bridges. The Beatles’ backup harmony vocals, in addition, were superb, and more effective [than on Alexander’s version].[2] – source wikipedia

It is known that during recording John had a bad cold that is more noticeable in the last songs like ‘Twist and shout’ or ‘There’s a place’.

Fact: In ‘Married with children'(season 5, episode 17) Al Bundy is obssesed with finding out the name of the song that becomes his earworm, originally telling people the misheard lyric ‘hmmm hmm him’

Lyrics

Anna, you come and ask me girl
To set you free, girl
You say he loves you more than me
So I will set you free
Go with him
(Anna)
Go with him
(Anna)

Anna, girl, before you go now
I want you to know now
That I still love you so
But if he loves you more
Go with him

All of my life
I’ve been searching for a girl
To love me like I love you
Oh, now

But every girl I’ve ever had
Breaks my heart and leaves me sad
What am I, what am I supposed to do?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Anna, just one more thing girl
You give back your ring to me
And I will set you free
Go with him

All of my life
I’ve been searching for a girl
To love me like I love you
But let me tell you now

But every girl I’ve ever had
Breaks my heart and leaves me sad
What am I, what am I supposed to do?
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

Anna, just one more thing girl
You give back your ring to me
And I will set you free
Go with him
(Anna)
Go with him
(Anna)
You can go with him girl
(Anna)
Go with him

Bioshock Infinite ending explained (MAJOR SPOILERS – don’t read if you haven’t played the game)

Seriously. Don’t read this if you haven’t played the game.

First of all u would like to say that this game is ART. Great story, awesome characters, a beautiful soundtrack(http://youtu.be/8J5LRxhp6A4 – not my video) and a virtual world worth exploring. The ending has generated a lot of conversations on the internet so I thought I might want to share my opinion on this.

Beginning

In the beginning you are on a boat with two people that are talking. Later in the game you find out that they are the Lutece twins.
“Because he doesn’t row.”
“He doesn’t row?”
“No, he doesn’t row.”
“Ah, I see what you mean.”
This is the first dialogue you hear in the game. Soon after that you see a lighthouse (if you played the game you know that lighthouses are important to the plot).
Now , the ending.
Let’s start with the obvious stuff.

False shepherd, Comstock and Columbia

Booker is actually Comstock in another universe. In the beginning the original Booker refuses the baptism that will wipe away his sins after and he has a child, Anna/Elizabeth. This Booker has to get Elizabeth from the tower ‘to wipe away the debt’ . Of course, he doesn’t know she is his daughter. With her powers, Elizabeth can open ‘tears’, doors to other worlds, but she can’t create something with a tear if that thing doesn’t already exist in other worlds.
In another universe there is Booker that accepts the baptism and changes his name to Zachary Comstock-the shepherd. He builds Columbia and warns the people about ‘the false shepherd’ – Booker Dewitt. According to Comstock, the false shepherd has a sign on his right hand which says: AD(which stand for Anna Dewitt). Guess what? Booker has that sign on his hand!

The ‘tear’ power

Elizabeth didn’t have these powers when she was born. Apparently the Lutece twins experimented on her and they also had a machine that could open tears. Then, Elizabeth could open tears without the machine.

Elizabeth – ‘The Lamb’

Apart from having amazing powers, Elizabeth is a very interesting character.
She is Booker’s daughter ,but we discover that fact in the end, because when she asks him about his family he says that his wife died giving birth to a child but he doesn’t have any children.
When Booker tries to save Elizabeth from songbird he hears her being tortured and brainwashed through tears in the air. Comstock tried to make her the heir of Columbia.
Booker goes through another tear where he meets with old Elizabeth. Around them there is a burning city. She hands him a piece of paper and tell him that this can never happen. Booker goes back and rescues young Elizabeth and hands her the note and then it all seems to be fine.

Hunting Comstock

When they find him, Comstock tries to explain to Booker why Elizabeth is missing her pinkie finger. Booker kills him, denying any knowledge of it. After that they try to escape but they are attacked by the Vox. With the help of Songbird they destroy the siphon(the source of Elizabeth’s power and the device that forces her to stay in Columbia). Booker panics and destroys the whistle that controls songbird. They try to escape him and once again Elizabeth opens another tear.
It’s a tear to Rapture.(from the first games)
They wander around this world , making the player nostalgic after the first games, leaving through a door and come into an immense and infinite space full of lighthouses.

The lighthouses

They are way to enter other worlds. They are outcomes of your choices and situations.

Booker and Elizabeth go to a lighthouse. There we can see Bookers apartment and Robert Lutece in the doorway. In a cot there’s baby Anna but Booker denies having a child. They continue with the scene because it had already happened. He hands the baby to Robert, which says: “Mr. Comstock forgives your sins.” Then there is a scene where Comstock holds Anna as he is about to go through a tear to Columbia. Booker tries to stop him but Comstock gets away, but not fast enough and as the tear closes, Anna’s pinkie gets cut. Now it is clear that Elizabeth is Booker’s daughter.

The Luteces

Booker realizes that they aren’t actually twins, but versions of themselves from other universes. Robert and Rosalind Lutece actually try to help him after Comstock betrayed them. They sent Booker to Columbia with the tear machine. He says he must go back and kill Comstock in his crib so all of this won’t happen but that means killing himself.

Comstock / Booker

At this point in the game, Booker is in the same universe where another version of himself accepted the baptism and wiped away his sins. This is Zachary Comstock which Booker has to kill.

In the cutscene , lots if Elizabeths appear and they drown Booker . After he dies they disappear.

Credits

The credits roll but is isn’t over. There is a final scene in Booker’s apartment where you can hear him say “Anna?”. That means that when he refused the baptism he then had Anna , which crated another dimension where he had the baptism but never had a child.
When Comstock realized he needed an heir but couldn’t have a child he had the twins to take Anna from Booker using the tear machine. So, Booker is Comstock which means Anna is actually related to Comstock.
Booker actually sold his daughter to Comstock to wipe away the debt . He couldn’t keep Anna because if he hadn’t sold her Comstock would steal her anyway. That means that there are no worlds where Anna and Booker stayed together.
This creates an ‘infinite’ cycle where Booker tries to rescue his daughter. This means he has already been to Columbia multiple times. This is made clear when you see the Luteces and they ask you to flip the coin. Heads, of course. When they turn around we can see that there are hundreds of marks on the blackboard for heads and none for tails. It shows how many times Booker has been to Columbia and flipped that coin. It’s a never ending loop that somehow has an end.
Booker accepts the fact that he has to die and allows Elizabeth to drown him. By killing himself he kills Comstock. All of this never happened.
But they didn’t die. Booker wasn’t killed when he was born. He was killed when he became Comstock. The Booker that rejected the baptism still existed. However there where no Luteces, no Columbia, no adult Elizabeth. Never.
Now, Booker is in his apartment with baby Anna, before Comstock. This means, it’s not Booker that dies. It’s Elizabeth in her adult form. Adult Elizabeth can only exist if there is a Comstock, but he died which means Elizabeth is now gone. This means Anna will live with Booker.

Anna

She is a complete different person from Elizabeth. She can’t open tears, she can’t pick locks, she won’t have the same personality. She isn’t Elizabeth but she is Booker’s daughter.

That’s it. That’s my opinion.
Bioshock is a beautiful game full of mystery and I’m curious to find out more about it. Maybe this theory is wrong maybe not. I don’t know. I tried my best!

Toodles.

Saturday Song – On my way to work-Paul McCartney

So, every Saturday I will post a song. This week I’ve chosen On my way to work from Paul McCartney’s album, NEW. Here are the lyrics:

On my way to work.
I rode a big green bus.
I could see everything.
From the upper deck.
People came and went.
Smoking cigarettes.
I picked the packets up.
When the people left.
But all the time I thought of you.
How far away the future seemed.
How could I have so many dreams.
And one of them not come true.
On my way to work.
I bought a magazine.
Inside a pretty girl.
Liked to water ski.
She came from Chichester.
To study history.
She had removed her clothes.
For the likes of me.
But all the time I thought of you.
How would you know that I was there.
How could a soul search everywhere.
Without knowing what to do.
On my way to work.
As I was clocking in.
I could see everything.
How it came to be.
People come and go.
Smoking cigarettes.
I pick the packets up.
When the people leave.
But all the time I think of you.
How far way the future seems.
How could I have so many dreams.
And one of them not come true.
On my way to work.
But all the time I thought of you.
How would you know that I was there.
How could a soul search everywhere.
Without knowing what to do.
On my way to work.

Hello, this is my first post.

First of all, let me introduce myself. I’m Mary. I like cats, bad puns and books. I spend most of my time listening to classic rock and procrastinating.
Second of all, I spent half an hour to find a username that I kinda liked, but it’s the kind of username I would have picked for my character in a video game when I was 8.
I’ll be writing about a lot of stuff, like music, books, TV shows, YouTube videos/channels, movies etc.
See you at my next post
Cheers.
Also, here’s a picture of my cat.
